In a shocking and disturbing turn of events, the Limpopo police have launched an investigation into a horrifying rape case.
The incident unfolded after the arrest of a Department of Correctional Services official, who allegedly sexually assaulted his 14-year-old stepdaughter with the help of her own mother.
The authorities wasted no time in taking action, storming into the home of the victim’s stepfather, a stern 42-year-old prison official, and her 46-year-old mother, who is accused of aiding and abetting the perpetrator.
Both individuals were promptly arrested after the brave victim mustered the courage to report the harrowing incident to the police.
The case of rape was immediately opened and transferred to the Phalaborwa Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit for a thorough investigation.
Reports suggest that the victim’s refusal to comply with her stepfather’s advances enraged the suspects, leading to a brutal assault and her abduction to the bedroom, where the vile act of rape took place, all while her own mother pinned her down.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed authorities Swift justice was served as the accused couple made their first appearance in court on Tuesday, September 26.
They were remanded in custody but were eventually granted bail of R2000-00 each when they reappeared before the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 2.
However, their fate hangs in the balance as the court postponed the proceedings until November 24, 2023, citing the need for further police investigations.
Inside the courtroom, the man faced charges of rape, while his accomplice, the victim’s own mother, was charged with aiding and abetting in this heinous crime.
To protect the identity of the victim, the names of the suspects will not be disclosed
