Ranger Stormtrak will be available in SA
Ford South Africa will unveil the Ranger Stormtrak, a distinctive and appealing version based on the upmarket Wildtrak, later this year,
The launch follows the tremendous success of the limited-edition of Ford Ranger Thunder in 2020.
“When we first introduced the Ranger Thunder a year ago, it received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, demonstrating undeniably that there is a strong demand for range-topping cars that offer something different from the norm,” says Doreen Mashinini, Ford South Africa’s General Manager for Marketing.
The new Ranger Stormtrak, like the limited-edition Thunder, “elevates the style, complexity, and exclusivity of our most luxuriously furnished model in the Ranger line-up,” Mashinini said.
In Stormtrak specification, the Ranger gets a striking black mesh grille with red inlays, a black insert in the lower region of the front bumper, black decals for the bonnet and doors, black roof rails, and 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, among other powerful, attention-getting visual aspects.
The limited-edition Ranger’s special status is further enhanced by a three-dimensional Stormtrak emblem on the bottom sections of the front doors, as well as on the rear tailgate.
Lucid Red, a vibrant new paint colour, will be offered on the Ranger Stormtrak in the future.
The additional colours are Sea Grey, Frozen White, and Blue Lightning.

In Stormtrak trim, the Ranger gains several eye-catching aesthetic elements, including a stunning black mesh grille with red inserts, black decals on the doors and bonnet, and 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels.
Three-dimensional Stormtrak insignia on the lower parts of the front doors, as well as on the rear tailgate, further identify this limited-edition Ranger’s exceptional status.
Lucid Red, a vivid new paint colour, will be included in the Ranger Stormtrak’s future release. Sea Grey, Frozen White, and Blue Lightning are additional options.
The Ranger Stormtrak receives unique treatment not just in terms of aesthetics, but also in terms of everyday practicality, owing to the standard installation of Ford’s innovative Power Roller Shutter for the back load compartment.
This ensures that goods can be safely secured in the loadbed with ease, complemented by the tailgate locking mechanism being integrated into the vehicle’s central locking system.
The adjustable bed divider system adds even more adaptability by allowing the user to compartmentalize the cargo area according to the size of the objects being transported, preventing products from shifting about while driving.
A 12-volt connection in a drop-in bedliner is ideal for powering equipment like a camping fridge.
The cabin welcomes you with opulent comfort and meticulous attention to detail, including illuminated front scuff plates.
This concept is carried over to the premium leather seats, which feature bold red stitching and the Stormtrak emblem prominently displayed on the front seat backrests.
The leather-trimmed inside features red stitching everywhere, including on the soft-touch dashboard top, steering wheel, and gear lever, adding to the athletic feel.
The SYNC®3 infotainment system with embedded navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and FordPass functionality.
It allows the owner to remotely access numerous vehicle features from their phone, such as remote and scheduled starts to either cool or heat the cabin. These are all standard features, as is the case with the Ranger Wildtrak.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Collision Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Alert and Lane Keeping Aid, Driving Alert System, and Semi-Automatic Parallel Park Assist are among the many revolutionary active and passive safety features and driver aids that come standard.
The Ranger Stormtrak is powered by Ford’s 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo engine, which produces 157kW and 500Nm and is positioned at the top of the range.
It comes with a sophisticated 10-speed automatic transmission that provides smooth shifts, responsive performance, and an excellent fuel economy.
The Ranger’s towing capacity of 3 500 kg, as well as its 800 mm water wading depth and 230 mm ground clearance, remain unaltered.
The Ranger Stormtrak’s price will be revealed closer to its availability in the late third quarter [Q3].
