Rhythm & Blues celebrate Africa Month in unusual style

In celebration of Africa Month, Afro Arts South Africa presents a Virtual Concert featuring various musicians and singers.

The two-day annual celebration will end on May 28, 2021.

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the music programme will stream through Facebook and the website.

Music lovers will be able to experience virtual live performances from different genres.

“We created an in-house rhythm and blues band, led by renowned jazz artist Avzal Ismail, which includes an excellent selection of South Afro-jazz musicians,” says Afro Arts Director Roshnie Moonsammy. Concert.

Guest artists include contemporary singer Bonj and bassist Aus Tebza, who has toured and record internationally.

Siya Makuzeni, trombone, singer and composer who won the Standard Bank Young Artist Award, will also perform.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Yonela Mnana, The Brother Moves On, Albert Frost, Andre from Black Cat Bones, actress and singer Nelisiwe Sibiya, Khumalo, Femi Koya, legendary guitarist SA Bra Themba Gunshot Blue and singer Lindsay McGuire are among other performers.

Afro Arts SA is hosting a training workshop on songwriting.

It will feature three renowned South African artists, Msaki, Shekhinah and Vusi Mahlasela.
