South Africa has registered 2 918 883 COVID-19 cases during the past 24-hour reporting cycle, including 517 new cases, according to the Department of Health.
In all, 56 people have been confirmed dead due COVID-19, bringing the cumulative death toll to 88 891.
The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 2 810 740 with a recuperation rate of 96,3 percent.
So far, South Africa has administered 21 011 187 COVID19 vaccine doses.

A total of 35 739 children aged 12 to 17 were vaccinated by Friday, October 22, 2021, with 93 753 registrations from this age group. In comparison to Wednesday and Thursday, Friday had the highest number of registrations and vaccines.
