The Lexus LC Convertible is now available in South Africa, and it joins the premium lifestyle brand’s lineup as one of its flagship models.
Lexus strengthens its position in the most prestigious segments of the market.
The carmaker’s team of designers was given the challenging task of creating the world’s most attractive open-top vehicle.
While the task seemed straightforward, it was a difficult one, as the new model had to stay true to the award-winning LC 500 coupes’ style elements.
As principal designer Tadao Mori noted, the roof was crucial to their goal: “Few convertibles are beautiful and exquisite when the top is open and when it is closed.”
There is only one model grade available, and it is priced at R2 345 500.
A unique and enthralling offering within the luxury convertible segment, the LC 500 Convertible offers an amazing combination of V8 performance and sound.
As the pinnacle of design and craftsmanship, the LC 500 Convertible is the epitome of Lexus’ position as the luxury leader.
With the LC Convertible, Lexus aimed for uncompromising engineering goals in order to bring the best out of the dynamic LC Coupe.
The specific adjustments have been scrutinized by professional Takumi craftsmen, and include:
- To maintain the LC Coupe’s elegant form, only three primary pieces (the forward pillar, rear guards, and boot lid) were redesigned.
- A lightweight and compact aluminium and magnesium roof structure for improved headroom in front and rear, and a boot space within 48 litres of the LC Coupe.
- For the utmost in design, elegance, and security, a luxurious, wrinkle-free cloth is used for the four-layer roof design, which is supported by sound-absorbing material.
