A total of 1,456,309 COVID-19 cases were recorded in South Africa with 2,548 new infections detected on Monday night.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Zweli Mkhize, said that the cumulative total of tests conducted so far is 8, 300 749, and 21 549 new tests have been recorded since the last report.
Unfortunately said Mkhize, 235 deaths were reported in South Africa.
The Eastern Cape is leading with 59 death, Free State 16, Gauteng 51, KwaZulu-Natal 10, Northwest 33, Northern Cape 2 and Western Cape 64 bringing the total number of people who died to 44,399.
“We extend our condolences to the relatives of the deceased and thank the medical staff who provided treatment to the deceased,” said Mkhize.
