These include two off-road GLB and the GLA complementing each other. Thanks to driver assistance with cooperative driver support, the new GLA is safer than ever.

With a powerful and efficient four-cylinder engine, the latest driver assistance with cooperative driver support, and the intuitive MBUX infotainment this new model has the power of the current generation Mercedes-Benz compact car.

Customers in South Africa can choose between the GLA 200 and GLA 200d available in the market.

The GLA 200 engine with an output of 1332 ccm produces 120 kW and 250 Nm of torque with fuel consumption of 6.0-5.7 1/100 km.

The 1950 cc GLA 200d diesel engine produces 110 kW of power and 320 Nm of torque with joint fuel consumption of 5.2-4.9 l / 100 km.

Mercedes-Benz has upgraded engine to the new edition of the compact series, with much higher performance and increased efficiency and emissions.

Selvin Govender, Mercedes-Benz Car Marketing Director for South Africa, said: “The new GLA combines the best of the two biggest segments – compact cars and SUVs.

The SUV is an important structural pillar in the Mercedes-Benz product portfolio and now is the largest-volume segment of Mercedes-Benz.

To date, over six and a half million customers worldwide have chosen the Mercedes-Benz SUV. “

Overall, the GLA has strong proportions with short overhangs on the front and rear.

GLA’s hallmark is the strong body arms and coupé lines on the side windows, which give the car a dynamic feel.

The door reaches the jamb, improves ease of access, keeps the door frame (and passenger pants) free of dirt, and improves impact protection in the event of a side impact.

The entire protective gear gives structure to the overall proportions and emphasizes the off-road character of the vehicle and the simulated front and rear hood.

The rear lamp comprises two parts and separates the reflector on the bumper.

This allows for a greater opening of the cargo space, which makes loading easier and the rear looks wider.

Like other SUV models from Mercedes-Benz, the radiator grille has a distinctive opening, single-blind and central star.

Modern and high-quality interior

The freestanding display dominates the driver-side instrument panel by a freestanding display with two 7-inch (17.78 cm) screens, one 7- and 10.25-inch (26 cm) screens, and in a wide-screen version with two 10.25-inch screens. Inch screen.

On the passenger side, the cut-out area has decorative elements.

High-quality turbine appearance characterizes five-round vent slots and the door centre panel flows smoothly onto the armrests.

The intuitively controlled MBUX infotainment system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) is standard.

The system is individually configurable and features a high-performance computer, brilliant screens and graphics, personalized presentation, full-color head-up display, optional augmented reality navigation, training software, and voice control starting with the “Hey Mercedes” prompt activated.

Larger interior, more functionality

The position of the front seats is higher and straighter than before and therefore more typical of an SUV: Both the driver and front passenger seat 140 mm higher than the A-Class and 50 mm higher than the B-Class.

The carmaker has also improved General visibility. The rear seats recline 14 cm, and a steeper paddle adjusts the rear seats that can accommodate large box-like items. “

There’s still plenty of room for a person or two at the back as these backrest options are available in a 40:60 split.

The backrest can split 40:20:40, with each section folded separately.

Standard floors that are height adjustable offer considerable variability.

If the back-seat folds and the loading floor is in the upper position, it creates a nearly flat loading area that extends to the front seat.

For very large items, it can lower the loading and unloading floors, to remove the bar behind the rear seats with the option to adjust the front/rear can move forward.

Monitoring surrounding traffic

It has also upgraded the driver’s assistance in the new GLA. If you choose the optional driver assistance package, functions include turn maneuver function, emergency corridor function, exit warning, pedestrian alert, Distronic active distance assistant and active steering assistant, active speed limit assistant, route-based cruise control, steering avoidance assistant, assistant maintenance of active lines for the dead, active.

Angles, active stop assistant, traffic signs assistant, and pre-protected plus, which recognizes the play

A blind-spot warning system warns vehicles, including bicycles, in the danger zone – even when the vehicle is not moving.

Traffic Sign Assist recognizes published speed limits and overtaking signs and, if selected, emits a signal when exceeding the speed limit, it also recognizes entry restrictions.

New car wash function

GLA is the first model in its class with a car wash function with just one command. The outer mirrors fold down and the side windows and close sunroof.

The climate control switches to air circulation mode and after a few seconds a 360 ° it displays the front camera image (if available) to support the driver while driving in the car wash.

This automatically deactivates this setting when the driver leaves the car wash.

Great comfort and driving pleasure

At 1605 and 1606 mm (front/rear), the track width is over 4 cm wider than the previous model.

Larger wheel arches and a larger wheel diameter of 17 to 20 inches results in higher ground clearance (143 mm / + 9 mm).

GLA features a state-of-the-art 4-link rear axle for maximum ride stability, ride quality, and longitudinal/transverse dynamics.
