Honda Motors South Africa introduced the original Ballade in 1982 and has become one of the most recognizable models in the country, well above its class in terms of style and substance.

Today, nearly 40 years later, Honda Ballade remains one of the most well-known brands in South Africa and has contributed to the growth of Honda Motors South Africa as an independent company in the local market.

Yuishi Fukuda, President of Honda in South Africa said: “We are very excited to be releasing a new Ballade on Honda Motor’s 20th anniversary.

We are releasing the power of dreams by focusing on the genuine needs of our customers.

This applies to the Ballade, one of the longest-running heroes. and our most successful in South Africa, also saying the new Ballade symbolizes the brand’s development in South

Africa over the past two decades and has led to Honda’s unmatched reputation for durability, quality, and outstanding reliability in the contributing segments in which we compete. “

GM Honda Automobile and Corporate Dinesh Govender said: “Our goal is mobility – giving people the freedom to enjoy their lives.

That means focusing  on offering the best quality products at reasonable prices,” added Govender.

“To achieve that balance, it bases everything on what we do, including our product design and business processes, based on the pillars of quality, durability, and reliability.

Our customers trust the Honda brand because they know they can trust our products.”

The new Ballade remain true to Honda’s proud heritage and take standards to new heights.

“With a very sporty and refined exterior design, an outstanding interior, and an incredible list of high-tech features, the new Ballade represents many of Honda’s best generations of innovation.”

RS PLANNING NOW IN SA

The new Ballade is the first model launched by the global Honda RS brand in South Africa. Honda defines the RS as “road navigation”, which is a sign of the smooth running of the boat on the water.

By introducing the Ballade RS, the model wanted to make the new product range more attractive through sporty cosmetic enhancements.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

The impressive new ballad style reflects the revolutionary silhouette of this sedan and creates an overall elegant and sporty look.

This results from a clean, sculpted body shape, stressed by a wider, lower stance, and a longer cover, and a short front overhang.

The new Ballade improves performance and sets it apart from other sedans in its class.

The new model is larger than the original: 110 mm longer, 55 mm wider, and 10 mm deeper.

This provides a lower center of gravity for better road stability, more confidence when cornering, and improves overall driving dynamics.

This gives the Ballade a sportier and more dynamic look, enlarging the interior space for passenger comfort.

Honda’s signature design seen in the new Ballade, including a sturdy wing area that covers the full front width of the car, while respecting the brand’s bold grille design and sleek new headlight handling along with the larger Honda Civic.

The Ballade Comfort and Elegance models boast halogen projector lamps, while the RS series has LED lamps and fog lamps.

All models come with LED daytime running lights and distinctive LED taillights as standard, which wrap around the sides of the body to bring out the aerodynamic design of the vehicle at all times.

The Comfort and Elegance model has 15-inch alloy wheels, while the RS model has 16-inch alloy wheels.

The flagship RS model has elements of an exclusive RS design, including sports front and rear bumpers, rear spoiler, grille, and unique fog covers.

INTERNAL COMFORT AND COMFORT

The new Ballade interior features a modern, driver-centered design that achieves the perfect combination of functional usability, high-quality materials, and beauty.

The interior’s minimalist facade showcases Honda’s latest design philosophy, including attractive soft touches and premium accent materials.

Driver-oriented ergonomics is also the focus of the new ballad. It offers a comfortable seating position with intuitive access to various controls on the vehicle.

Besides, the new slim A-pillars and offset side mirrors offer the driver an excellent field of view and minimize blind spots.

It enhances ride comfort by incorporating a new seat design that offers high-quality upholstery for comfort and elegance while adorning the spacious RS interior with high-quality leather upholstery.

Another interesting addition to the newcomer is the high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen display, which is on the dashboard.

The new infotainment system is available as standard for the Elegance and RS models and offers users the full functionality of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This device also has Bluetooth and steering wheel control.

Electrically controlled side mirrors and windows, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, and automatic headlights are standard in the entire lineup.

The flagship RS model has several additional functions and technologies such as intelligent auto-lock, reverse camera, electric sunroof, and a new intuitive 7-inch TFT multi-information display that replaces the traditional analog instrument cluster.

In this way, the driver can easily adjust the content displayed on the instrument panel using the steering wheel controls.

MACHINE, GEARBOX, AND SUSPENSION

The 1.5-liter SOHC-I-VTEC engine presented in the original model is praised for the optimal balance between performance and efficiency.

The new Ballad perfected this by introducing a 1.5-liter DOHC engine with i-VTEC technology.

The improved Powertrain achieves better efficiency and lower emissions without sacrificing performance.

It now produces a slightly higher output of 89 kW at 6,600 rpm, while the same maximum torque, 145 Nm, is now at a lower engine speed of 4,500 rpm.

As world oil prices rebound, fuel economy is an increasingly important consideration for many buyers. Customers will therefore benefit from the new Ballade, which results in a combined cycle average of 5.5 l / 100 km with CO2 emissions of 131 g / km.

The carmaker equips the Ballade with a revised version of Honda’s continuous variable transmission (CVT), which already has G-Design gearshift controls.

This creates a feeling of controlling a traditional automatic transmission by integrating an artificial gear during acceleration, but with increased variator efficiency.

At the heart of the new Ballade is a lightweight and sturdy platform ported and adapted from the original model.

With introducing new Honda ACE (Compatibility Enhancement) technology and high-strength materials, the overall dynamic performance, handling, and safety of a significantly improved new model.

SECURITY

The latest Ballade generation offer many standard safety functions in a range of models. Active safety features include an advanced anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and vehicle stability assistant (VSA), allowing more effective vehicle control.

The rear parking sensor is standard on all models except the basic Comfort model, while the RS model has a rear camera for added comfort.

SRS airbags for the driver, front passenger, side blinds, and blinds are standard passive safety features. Besides, it equips all models with ISOFIX seat belt tensioners and child seat anchors.

Like all Honda models, the latest Ballade features Honda’s ACE body structure, which evenly allows distribution of impact energy, and directing it away from the body while minimizing damage to other affected vehicles.

MODEL SPECIFICATIONS

The new Ballade lineup will launch in three models: Comfort, Elegance, and RS.

The carmaker equips all models with a new 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC drive and a continuously variable (CVT) transmission.

The Ballade colour palette includes new platinum white (pearl), bright red (metal), moon silver (metal), and modern steel (metal).

WARRANTY AND SERVICE PLAN
