In 2015, Mercedes-Benz introduced the V-Class in South Africa. It adopted an alternative design method that was good value for money, comfort, and a useful vehicle.
Since then, the V-Class has become even more powerful, outperforming its global and South African sales targets.
The lift for 2019 refreshes and adds focus to an already dominant model, including a redesigned front design, a sporty and simple cockpit, and new bike and interior options.
Introducing the V 300 d in this already successful model series, Mercedes-Benz intends to push the MPV market segment even further.

New engine, new transmission – powerful and efficient
Mercedes-Benz equip the V 300 d with a four-cylinder OM 654 engine with a capacity of 2 liters, 176 kW and 500 Nm of torque, making it a leader in this field.
In the acceleration phase, the V 300 d can produce 30 Nm of torque plus 500 Nm of torque. It can speed up from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220 km / h.
The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission also used for the first time in the V-Class and is standard in all variants of the V 300 d.
With the DYNAMIC SELECT switch, the driver can switch between the comfortable and the sport driver and adjust the displacement characteristics. In “manual” mode, the driver can shift gears manually using the DIRECT SELECT steering wheel pedal.
More comfortable design customers are familiar with the personalized, high-quality interior and exterior of V-Class vehicles from the AVANTGARDE and AMG series, imported to the V 300 d.
The EXCLUSIVE series is available as standard with customization options such as a panoramic sunroof, rear AC seat and center console with integrated beverage cooler. Besides level adjustments for customers at level V, the night package is only available for V 300 d. This is the first innovation for the V 300 d.
Mercedes-Benz can combine night packages with the AMG series. The carmaker has customized decorative elements, including black exterior mirrors without obsidian, black anodized ribbons, and an AMG front bumper with black trim.
In the MPV market segment, comfort is a must. So far, the comfort of the V-Class with its individually adjustable leather rear seats has left a deep impression on passengers, and the V 300 d is no exception. Like all other models in the V-Class, the V 300 d is available with a 7-seater configuration as standard, but can be adjusted for 6 or 8 seats depending on customer requirements. Customer can change the leather seats from normal black leather to brown Tartufo leather or silk cream leather at no additional cost.
The smart LED light gives the driver a deep impression while driving and adjusts headlight range when detecting oncoming traffic. It always adapt adaptive high beam assistance system to road conditions.
This car comes with everything you can think of:
- EASY-PACK of the rear door which electrically closes the rear door,
- Separate windows in the back door with a raised parcel shelf
- The 19 ” (inch) light alloy wheels, AMG or AMG black or lightweight 10-spoke wheels are standard,
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
The V 300 d variant has become synonymous with the brand and all the safety aspects that customers are used to.
Safety highlights include a driver help package with PRE-SAFE, lane departure alerts, blind spot assistance and active braking assistance. Besides driver and team airbags, driver and front passenger airbags, and front window airbags on A-B pillars are standard, and other window airbags protrude from A-D pillar.
Back door lock for kids ensures that kids don’t open the electric rear sliding door while driving.
The V 300 d also has the user experience of Mercedes-Benz or MBUX and replaces the previous COMAND online system. It now offers this function throughout the V-Class series. This system includes a 10.25-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay,and Android Auto smartphone integration and navigation on the Mercedes-Benz hard drive.
The carmaker equips all V 300 d models with the Burmester sound system as standard. With a multi-channel surround sound system, the 16-speaker surround sound system delivers shocking sound throughout the V-Class. The integrated sound amplification system also ensures that the driver and front passenger can speak comfortably to rear passengers regardless of their distance.
