The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported 912 new COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 3,705,696.
NICD), is a division of the National Health Laboratory Service, and continues to provide laboratory surveillance to inform the public health response towards COVID-19 in South Africa.
This represents a 4.7 percent increase in positivity rate.
National Department of Health (NDoH) says due to the ongoing audit exercise, there may be a backlog of COVID-19 mortality cases reported.
The NDoH reported three fatalities on Tuesday, one of which happened within the last 24 to 48 hours.
This brings the cumulative number of deaths to 99,893 to date.

The department have conducted 23 619 340 tests in the public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases were recorded in Gauteng on Tuesday, with 33 percent followed by the Western Cape with 23 percent.
KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 22 percent, North West accounted for 7 percent, Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga each accounted for 4 percent, Free State and Limpopo each accounted for 3 percent, and Northern Cape accounted for 0 percent.
