In an impressive feat, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has once again maintained its position as the top-selling vehicle brand in the country, with a market share of 24.3%.

TSAM dominated in the Passenger, Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV), and Medium Commercial Vehicle (MCV) segments, solidifying its stronghold in the automotive market.

The iconic Hilux bakkie reaffirmed its popularity, with 2,435 units sold, including 113 units of the recently launched Hilux GR-S III.

The introduction of the Hilux Raider 48V also made a significant impact, contributing to 99 sales.

Other standout performers in the LCV segment include the Hiace with 381 sales and the Land Cruiser 79 pickup with 258 units sold.

Passenger vehicles from Toyota also showcased strong sales performance, with four models ranking in the top ten.

The Corolla Cross secured the second spot with 1,578 units, while the Starlet followed closely behind with 1,171 units.

The Fortuner and Land Cruiser Prado also made their mark in the SUV category, claiming sixth and tenth place respectively.

In terms of eco-friendly offerings, Toyota continues to be a leader in New Energy Vehicles, with the Corolla Cross Hybrid generating high demand among customers.

The introduction of 48V technology to the Hilux and Fortuner further demonstrates Toyota’s commitment to providing diverse eco-friendly options to consumers.

“We are incredibly grateful to our customers for choosing Toyota as their preferred vehicle brand in South Africa. Our dedicated dealers, sales, marketing, and aftersales staff, as well as our production facility, have all played a crucial role in our continued success,” says Leon Theron, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors.

With a wide range of vehicles catering to various segments of the market, Toyota continues to set the standard for excellence in the automotive industry.
