Woman gunned down in drive-by shooting near bus terminal in Mpumalanga

A 36-year-old woman was shot and killed while on her way to work in Mbombela CBD, Mpumalanga on Wednesday morning at around 5:20 am.

The incident allegedly occurred next to bus terminal and it was witnessed by commuters.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the victim was shot in her upper body in a drive-by shooting from a white Isuzu Light Delivery Vehicle bakkie.

Medical emergency personnel and police were called to the scene, but the woman was unfortunately declared dead.

Col Mdhluli said motive behind the killing is unknown, and police cannot rule out the possibility of domestic violence.

He said no arrests have been made, and police investigations are ongoing.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has condemned the incident and promised that the perpetrator will be brought to justice.
