Police are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found in the veld with a cut-throat.
In a statement, Free State Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng said the woman was allegedly raped before she was murdered.
According to Thakeng, a Kutloanong township resident discovered the body while cutting wood in the veld.
“Odendaalsrus police responded to a gruesome sight of a woman’s body found sprawled in the farm vicinity near a K10 Police station,” he said.
Thakeng stated that the deceased finger had a wedding band on it, that her clothes were scattered on the scene, and that her throat was slit, suggesting the possibility that she was raped before being slain.
Police have filed a murder case for further investigation, Thakeng said.
No one has been reported missing, and police urge anyone with information on missing family members to contact Odendaalsrus Police Station.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrests of the suspects, is requested to contact Detective Captain Keke Moeketsi of Odendaalsrus SAPS on 082 301 2797 or Crime Stop number at 08600 10111.
