One of the leading South African retail chain on Monday allayed customers fears that while facing uncertainty and impact brought by Coronavirus (COVID-19) the store has taken measures to make sure customers are safe.
In a statement on Monday, Woolworths South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Zyda Rylands said the company works with health and safety partners and medical experts to monitor the situation in the country.
Rylands said the store is also taking guidance from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) the World Health Organisation and the Department of Health to inform our approach.
“As our valued customers, we wanted to let you know we have taken measures to ensure your continued safety in our stores. We have empowered our people with relevant information and guided on personal hygiene and preventative measures in our stores,” said Rylands.
Rylands said Woolworths has increased the number of hand sanitisers that you will find in stores and these will be available for use at the entrance to each store, checkout queues and till points.
“Extra trolley wipes are being provided for your use, and our people are also exercising more hygiene measures. We thoroughly clean every day,” said Rylands.”
If circumstances require, said Rylands we will close a store to protect our customers. However, we believe our safety plans are sufficient to minimise any disruption
“If customers experience disruption to trade in their favourite stores, our online shopping will always be available.Our stores are open for business and continue to be a safe place for you to shop,” added Rylands.
