AfriForum clashes with Trump over treatment of Afrikaners in South Africa

Civil rights organisation, AfriForum has condemned US President Donald Trump’s recent executive order regarding the treatment of Afrikaners in South Africa, pointing the finger at President Cyril Ramaphosa for the current situation.

The controversial order comes in response to South Africa’s Expropriation Act 13 of 2024, which permits the seizure of Afrikaner-owned agricultural properties without compensation.

While AfriForum acknowledges the injustices faced by Afrikaners, it stresses the need for solutions to come from within South Africa itself.

The organisation has voiced opposition to Trump’s decision to cut foreign aid to South Africa and offer refuge to white Afrikaners in the US.

President Ramaphosa has stood firm against international pressure, vowing not to bow down to external influences.

AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel has called for practical reforms to address the discrimination and hate speech faced by Afrikaners, emphasising the importance of thriving as a cultural community within South Africa.

Solidarity Movement chairman, Flip Buys which includes Afriforum, announced plans to engage with Ramaphosa and visit the US to seek mutually beneficial solutions.

The organisation has proposed initiatives aimed at ensuring safety for all citizens, combating corruption, and actively involving local communities in service delivery and improvements.
