AfriForum CEO Kalie Kriel has come out swinging against South African government, accusing it of targeting opponents with false charges of high treason.
Kriel lambasted the Hawks for their investigation into AfriForum, claiming there are no grounds for the charges and that the real focus should be on the corruption allegations against 94 ANC leaders.
According to Kriel, the government is using the guise of combating treason to silence those who fight for property rights and expose human rights abuses against Afrikaners.
He believes that the ANC leaders implicated in corruption by the Zondo Commission are being shielded from prosecution, while those who oppose their actions are being unfairly targeted.
Kriel stated, “If anyone is betraying the people of this country, it is the ANC leaders.”
He urged the Hawks to redirect their attention from frivolous charges against AfriForum to the real issues at hand – tackling corruption within the ruling party.
The CEO remains defiant in the face of the investigation, declaring that he has “no sleepless nights” over the allegations.
With his strong stance, Kriel is signaling that he will not back down in the fight for justice and accountability in South Africa.
