AfriForum CEO remains defiant in face of high treason investigation

Despite Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) confirming an investigation into four high treason dockets linked to white genocide claims against farmers in South Africa, AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel remains undeterred.

In a statement, Kriel confirmed delegation from AfriForum and Solidarity Movement is continuing discussions with role players in the US to promote interests of Afrikaners and South Africa.

Kriel stated the aim of discussions in the US is to highlight what he calls “reckless policies” South African government implemented, including Expropriation Act and Basic Education Amendment Act.

He claimed he has not received any official notice of the investigation, but maintains there are no legal grounds for treason charges against AfriForum.

“I will not lose any sleep over it,” Kriel said defiantly, indicating he is prepared for the Hawks to proceed with  investigation.

He believes any potential court case will provide AfriForum with  opportunity to showcase how certain African National Congress (ANC) leaders abuse power to govern against certain sections of the population.

Kriel further criticised  government for targeting AfriForum while turning blind eye to corruption allegations against ANC leaders implicated in Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.

He argues  government’s policies, along with racial discrimination and careless foreign policy, demonstrate disloyalty of certain ANC leaders towards people of South Africa.
