A senior Houthi official has declared Yemen Ansar Allah movement will immediately cease attacks on U.S. vessels in the Red Sea if Trump administration ends its ongoing air strikes against Yemen, according to Institute for Public Accuracy (IPA) quoting Drop Site News report.
Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a prominent Houthi spokesperson, directly tied the group actions to U.S. policy: “Trump can end the battle in the Red Sea by forcing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop Israel genocidal war,” he stated, adding that Houthi forces would halt attacks on Israeli-linked targets if Gaza hostilities cease.
The offer comes amid escalating U.S.-led strikes in Yemen, including factory in Sanaa that reportedly killed six civilians, according to AntiWar.com report.
The Houthis also claimed their air defenses shot down a fourth U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone this month, bringing total losses to 19 drones since October 2023—a staggering $570 million blow to Pentagon assets.
The IPA highlighted growing calls for diplomacy, quoting Just Foreign Policy Executive Director Sara Sperling, who urged the White House to pursue a ceasefire: “Instead of de-escalating, the administration risks dragging America into another Libya-style regime change disaster.”
Meanwhile, Isaac Evans-Frantz of Action Corps condemned bombing campaign as unconstitutional, warning of unchecked executive overreach.
As Yemen humanitarian crisis deepens, Houthi proposal presents pivotal choice for Washington, continue costly military escalation or seize rare diplomatic opening to stabilise the region.
