President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday with a fiery defense of U.S. farmers, framing them as collateral damage in global trade disputes while accusing the Biden administration of failing to enforce hard-won agreements.
“Our farmers are patriots, but their greatness makes them targets in every negotiation,” Trump wrote, referencing China’s alleged backtracking on agricultural purchase commitments tied to his $28 billion trade deal.
The post revisited Trump’s first-term strategy of compensating farmers during the U.S.-China trade war, which he claims stabilised rural economies until President Joe Biden took office.
“China behaved during my administration because they respected strength,” Trump asserted. “Now they’ve abandoned billions in deals—even rejecting Boeing planes—and why wouldn’t they? Crooked Joe let them walk all over us.”
Trump’s remarks doubled as both a campaign rallying cry and a critique of Biden’s foreign policy, insisting that “only renewed American resolve” can protect agricultural communities.
He concluded with a signature pledge: “Farmers fed America through the trade war once. With your support, we’ll make sure they’re never left behind again.”
The Boeing reference, tied to reports of China canceling aircraft orders this week, adds fresh urgency to Trump’s argument—a calculated nod to voters in manufacturing and farming states ahead of the 2024 election cycle.
