The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has redeployed Secretary General Floyd Shivambu to Parliament, the party announced at a media briefing in Durban on Tuesday.
This follows last week’s appointment of Colleen Makhubele as Chief Whip, replacing ousted Mzwanele Manyi.
Shivambu confirmed the decision by party leadership, accepting the move as a disciplined member.
His redeployment comes after a controversial meeting with Malawian fugitive pastor Shepherd Bushiri.
In his statement, Shivambu emphasised commitment to advancing the party agenda in the National Assembly.
He described the role as invaluable and humbling, thanking former president Jacob Zuma for unifying progressive forces in South Africa.
Shivambu called joining the MK Party his best decision ever.
The party clarified Shivambu will serve solely as a Member of Parliament, ending his tenure as Secretary General immediately.
