The African National Congress (ANC) has announced a significant reconfiguration of its national structures, aiming to enhance its organisational capacity and governance.
This move includes deployment of National Executive Committee (NEC) members to provinces and subcommittees, aligning with the ANC Constitution.
The NEC has the authority to establish committees and delegate powers as necessary to ensure all structures function effectively.
The latest deployment rotation, approved in February 2023, is part of a biennial process to strengthen leadership across provinces.
Key Aspects of the Reconfiguration:
– Deployment of NEC Members: To provinces and subcommittees to ensure effective supervision and direction.
– Establishment of Committees: NEC has authority to establish committees and delegate powers as necessary.
– Fortnightly Meetings: ANC NEC subcommittees will convene regular meetings to engage on key policy matters and governance oversight.
– Appointment of Members: To Standing Committees and Commissions to ensure effective fulfilment of their mandates.
The ANC emphasises tha this deployment process is a crucial part of its internal governance, aiming to enhance efficiency, coordination, and service delivery to the people.
The party dismisses attempts to create a false narrative of divisions within the movement, stating that this is a standard rotational process.
The ANC calls on the media to report accurately and gain a better understanding of the party’s internal processes, rather than fuelling speculation that misleads the public.
