Checkers Sixty60 Xtra Xtra weekend: 60% off steals on tech, bulk buys, and more

Checkers Sixty60 is rolling out its biggest online sale yet, offering up to 60% off on over 250 deals from May 23 to 25.

The three-day Xtra Xtra Weekend promotion features discounts on general merchandise, bulk groceries, and liquor, available exclusively through the Sixty60 app and Checkers’ newly upgraded website, which now supports browser-based shopping across devices, including Huawei.

Shoppers in Checkers Hyper delivery zones can grab premium tech deals like Apple AirPods 4th Gen at R1,449.99 (nearly half price) and a 70-inch JVC 4K QLED TV for R8,999.99.

Select Cape Town and Gauteng residents will have access to exclusive offers on Apple  brands – Smeg and Sony  – for Checkers Hyper delivery.

“We’re stepping into the e-commerce big leagues,” said Ilze Bylos, Shoprite Group’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Our goal is to be South Africa’s go-to for everything from groceries to gadgets, delivered in 60 minutes.”

Bulk liquor deals include 12 bottles of Jameson whiskey for R4,149 and 72 cans of Castle Lager for R650. Parents can stock up on Pampers Megabox nappies from R499.99, while cat owners get 48 Pamper Cat Food pouches for R349.99.

Standard Bank customers earn UCount Rewards points on all purchases during the sale. For added perks, the Xtra Savings Plus subscription offers unlimited free deliveries (min R350 spend), 10% in-store discounts, and doubled personalised deals.

From Philips air fryers at R900 to Nespresso machines slashed to R1,999.99, the sale targets budget-conscious shoppers aiming to stretch their rands further.
