Shoprite Group and Standard Bank join forces, unbeatable grocery rewards

In a game-changing partnership, Africa’s largest bank, Standard Bank, has teamed up with the continent biggest retailer, Shoprite Group, to offer customers unprecedented value through Africa largest grocery rewards program.

Starting in April 2025, qualifying Standard Bank UCount Rewards members will receive up to 30% back in UCount rewards points when shopping at Checkers and Shoprite stores, and an impressive 40% back in UCount rewards points on Sixty60 deliveries.

This exciting announcement comes as Shoprite Group reaffirms its commitment to transparent partnerships that deliver real benefits to shoppers.

This innovative collaboration follows Checkers’ highly successful introduction of the Discovery Vitality HealthyFood benefit in September 2024, where Vitality members can earn up to 75% back in Discovery Miles on more than 2,500 product at Checkers, Checkers Hyper, and Sixty60.

The rewards earned through UCount Rewards and Vitality HealthyFood are in addition to the almost 30% instant cash discounts available with the Xtra Savings card, making Shoprite and Checkers a go-to destination for savvy shoppers looking to stretch their grocery budget.

As a result of these customer-centric initiatives, Shoprite and Checkers customers collectively saved an impressive R16.9 billion on their grocery bills in the previous financial year, solidifying the Xtra Savings program as the top supermarket rewards program in South Africa since 2019.

In light of this exciting development, it was also announced that FNB has made the decision to terminate its eBucks partnership with Checkers, effective March 31, 2025.

The move further highlights the strength of the new partnership between Shoprite Group and Standard Bank in delivering unrivaled value to customers.

“We are committed to providing our customers with tangible benefits and value, especially during these challenging times. We are thrilled to partner with Standard Bank, who shares our dedication to offering clear and significant benefits to our customers, as well as Discovery Vitality, a like-minded organisation focused on helping customers live better every day,” said Pieter Engelbrecht, CEO of Shoprite Group.

With Africa’s largest bank and Africa’s largest retailer joining forces, customers can look forward to even greater savings and rewards when shopping at Shoprite and Checkers.
