Aflatoxin alert: Woolworths addresses safety concerns

Woolworths on Friday issued an immediate recall of its Peanut Butter Dairy Ice Cream from its stores due to elevated levels of Aflatoxin.

The retailer has assured customers that all other products containing peanut butter, including their range of Peanut Butter, are safe for consumption.

Woolworths conducted thorough testing in response to recent concerns about Aflatoxin levels in South African peanut butter products and confirmed the safety of their peanut butter.

Despite Aflatoxin being a naturally occurring substance, Woolworths proactively evaluated all secondary products containing peanut butter as a precautionary measure to maintain their high quality standards.

It was discovered that Woolworths Peanut Butter Ice Cream exceeded legal Aflatoxin limits, prompting its removal from shelves.

Customers can return the product for a full refund. Woolworths emphasises its commitment to quality and safety through stringent food management processes, ensuring customer trust and satisfaction.
