Allegations of sexual assault by Doctor at Limpopo hospital spark urgent police investigation

In a deeply troubling incident, a 22-year-old pregnant woman has accused a doctor of raping her during a medical examination at George Masebe Hospital, Limpopo, on Sunday morning, April 27, 2025.

The Acting Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Samuel Manala, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations, which have prompted significant concern within the community.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim, feeling violated during the examination, promptly reported the incident to other healthcare staff.

The staff immediately notified law enforcement, leading to the opening of a case of rape against the unidentified physician.

“Crimes of this nature are extremely serious and particularly disturbing when committed by individuals entrusted with the care of vulnerable members of our community,” Major Gen Manala stated, emphasising the urgency and sensitivity the case requires.

He urged anyone with additional information to come forward.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed investigations are ongoing, but as of now, the suspect has not been arrested.

“We are committed to uncovering the facts of this case and ensuring justice for the victim,” Ledwaba added.
