Cosatu in Limpopo condemns lack of alliance representation in provincial executive

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) in Limpopo has publicly expressed concern and condemnation over the recent appointment of the Provincial Executive Council, citing a fundamental blight in the outlook of the Provincial Executive for its absence of Alliance representation.

In a statement released by Cosatu Provincial Secretary, Hangwani Mashao, it was noted that the lack of representation from the components of the Alliance, including Cosatu and the South African Communist Party, is a regression to the dark days of exclusion and disregard for the input of Alliance structures.

Mashao emphasized the importance of reflecting the components of the Alliance in decision-making processes, as outlined in the principles of the African National Congress..

He expressed disappointment in the sloppy and last-minute consultations that led to the exclusion of Alliance representation in the Provincial Executive Council.

Despite the concerns raised, Cosatu congratulated the individual members appointed to the Provincial Executive Council and expressed hope that they would assist the Premier of Limpopo in addressing the challenges facing workers in the region.

Cosatu called upon the ANC to prioritise proper and thorough engagement through Alliance structures, ensuring that the voices of all components are heard and represented in decision-making processes.

The statement from Cosatu serves as a reminder of the importance of unity within the alliance and the need for inclusive governance that considers the concerns and perspectives of all stakeholders.
