A chilling tale of murder, attempted murder, and deceit unfolded in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court as three suspects, Zachariah Olivier, a 60-year-old farmer, and his employees Adriaan De Wet, 19, and William Musoro, 45, a foreign national, appeared before the court.
The trio faces charges of two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, defeating the ends of justice, and contravention of the Immigration Act.
The gruesome discovery of two decomposed women’s bodies in a pigsty on Olivier’s farm in Sebayeng, outside Mankweng, on August 20, led to the arrests.
The Provincial Tracking Team and Murder and Robbery Unit conducted a thorough investigation, which began when a 45-year-old South African woman went missing after visiting the farm on August 17, accompanied by a 35-year-old foreign national woman.
Both women sustained gunshot wounds, and a 47-year-old foreign national man, who was with them, was also shot and hospitalised.
The matter has been postponed to August 30 for a formal bail application.
As police investigations continue, the community remains shaken by the horrific events that unfolded on the farm.
