A horrific incident has shaken Shongoane village, outside Lephalale, where a 2-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by his own biological father.
The Acting Limpopo Police Commissioner, Major General Samuel Manala, has expressed outrage and shock over the gruesome killing, calling for the harshest possible sentence for the suspect.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the horrific incident was reported on Sunday morning at 6am and child mutilated body found on a bed.
The 22-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, with some of the victim’s body parts reportedly found in his possession.
The motives behind the killing are still unknown, but authorities have not ruled out the possibility of ritualistic elements being involved.
The community is reeling in shock, demanding swift action and justice for the innocent child.
Major General Manala emphasised the need for justice to be served, ensuring that the perpetrator faces the full extent of the law.
The Limpopo Police have vowed to leave no stone unturned in the investigation, which is ongoing.
The suspect is expected to appear before Phalala Magistrate’s court soon.
