Homemade wooden ladder used for Illegal border crossings seized at Beitbridge

Police at Beitbridge border post have on Sunday confiscated a homemade wooden step ladder believed to be used for crossing Limpopo River illegally between Zimbabwe and South Africa.

During the operation, border police arrested 42 foreign.nationals within the borderline outside Musina in Vhembe District for contravention of immigration Act. 

Limpopo Police Spokesperson,Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the  group was processed by Immigration officers from the Department of Home Affairs for deportation back to their countries of origin. 

Colonel Ledwaba said the team confiscated a homemade wooden step ladder at Beitbridge that is believed to be used to cross the Limpopo River between Zimbabwe and South Africa. 

According to Colonel Ledwaba other suspects were arrested for various offences..

On the same day, a multidisciplinary team arrested nine suspects in separate locations at Mokopane in the Waterberg District for dealing in illicit cigarettes. 

Thousands of rands worth of illicit cigarettes were seized. 

In another incident, a 31-year-old male suspect was arrested for rape, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest at Thohoyandou in Vhembe District. 

The suspects will appear before various Magistrate’s Courts in due course.
