Humanity fails as cattle suffer: Two men caught with stolen livestock and carcasses

In a heart-wrenching incident, two men were arrested for possessing suspected stolen livestock and subjecting animals to cruelty in Mentz, along the R71 public road.
The Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, reported that a vigilant member of the Polokwane Stock-Theft Unit stumbled upon a suspicious white Toyota bakkie with a trailer loaded with cattle, leading to the duo’s swift apprehension.

The disturbing discovery included three cattle carcasses and seven live animals, valued at approximately R80,000. Preliminary investigations suggest the cattle were stolen from a grazing field in Ga-Sekororo, with the suspects unable to provide authentic documentation.
The cattle, bakkie, and trailer were impounded, and the men will face charges of possession of stolen livestock and cruelty to animals in the Mankweng Magistrate court.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of humanity’s failure to protect vulnerable creatures.
Police urge anyone with information on stolen cattle in the Mopani District to come forward, ensuring justice is served for these innocent animals.
