Kia SA celebrates Two Oceans Ultra-Marathon winners with brand-new vehicles

Kia South Africa is proud to celebrate the achievements of Onalenna Khonkobe and Gerda Steyn, the male and female winners of this year’s Two Oceans ultra-marathon, as they receive the keys to their brand-new Kia vehicles.

The prizes were announced during the Two Oceans Marathon in April, with the prize presentations taking place this month after the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) declared the race results drug-free.
Kia South Africa CEO, Paul Turnbull expressed his excitement for the winners, stating,

“The spectacle that the Two Oceans Marathon creates each year aligns perfectly with our brand slogan, ‘Movement that inspires.’
We are thrilled to support such a prestigious event and honor the incredible achievements of Onalenna and Gerda in this year’s race. We have full confidence that the Kia vehicles they will be driving for the next year will complement their lifestyles and successes.”

Onalenna Khonkobe, a 28-year-old runner from the North West Province, claimed victory in the men’s race with a time of 3:09:30. With a dedication to his craft that started in primary school,

Khonkobe’s win makes him the first South African male to win the Two Oceans ultra-marathon since 2019.
He expressed his gratitude for the support from Kia South Africa, stating, “I am truly blessed to have the gift of running, and I’m honored to be driving a brand-new Kia for the next year.”

Gerda Steyn, the queen of long-distance running, secured her fifth consecutive win in the women’s race, finishing with a time of 3:26:54.
Steyn’s dominance in both the Two Oceans and Comrades Marathons has solidified her as one of South Africa’s top athletes. Steyn pictured bellow with her brand new Kia.
