Lephalale police investigate lodge buglary

The Lephalale police are investigating a burglary at a local lodge in Stockpoort.

According to Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the incident occurred on Saturday when an employee of the lodge had left for the day.

Little did he know that his peaceful evening would soon be shattered by a distress call from his employer. It was a call that would reveal what had taken place at the lodge in his absence.

Upon arriving at the scene, the employee was met with a chilling sight – the kitchen door was ajar and showed signs of forced entry.

Colonel Ledwaba confirmed that the suspects had tampered with the door, gaining entry to the lodge.

Further investigation revealed that the perpetrators had made off with a haul of stolen goods, worth a staggering R84,000. Among the missing items were four bar fridges, five kettles, a sandwich toaster, a microwave, a 55″ Samsung TV, an inverter battery, a bread toaster, two large cooler boxes, eight camping chairs, a Sony sound system, groceries, cutlery, and three solar panels.

The extent of the robbery left the authorities baffled.

But the thieves weren’t satisfied with just stealing – they had also caused damage to the tents on the lodge premises, using a sharp object to cut through the material.

The distressed lodge owner immediately reported the incident to the police, who swiftly launched a full-scale investigation.

Appealing to the public for any information that could aid in tracking down the suspects, the police have urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. Lephalale Detective Commander Lieutenant Colonel Johannes Hlongwane can be contacted on 082 565 7968, or information can be shared anonymously via the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the MySAPS App.
