Limpopo Police crack down on corrupt Traffic Officers

In a victory for law enforcement, the Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the Provincial Organised Crime unit for their recent successful operation.
The team, led by Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Major General Samuel Manala, arrested eleven traffic officers for their alleged involvement in corrupt activities.

The arrests come after the Road Traffic Management Corporation Anti-Corruption Unit (NTACU) worked closely with the police following up on allegations of bribery on the N1 highway.
Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the Limpopo Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrests on Friday, revealing that ongoing investigations uncovered a disturbing pattern of corruption among traffic officials operating along the N1 freeway.

Lt Gen Hadebe praised the efforts of the team, stating that corruption undermines the rule of law and order, posing a threat to the safety of communities.
She urged citizens to report any form of corruption to the police without hesitation.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon, facing charges including defeating the ends of justice, extortion, and soliciting bribes.
Brigadier Mashaba indicated that more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.

This crackdown on corrupt traffic officers sends a clear message that law enforcement in Limpopo will not tolerate any form of illegal activity. The community can rest assured that the police are dedicated to upholding justice and ensuring the safety of all citizens on the road.
