In a disturbing turn of events, a business robbery, kidnapping, and two counts of rape incident took place at Chuene Clinic in Thokgwaneng Village, Lebowakgomo in the early hours of Friday morning.
Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.
According to Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, an unknown male suspect entered the security guardroom at the clinic, where he pointed three security members with a firearm and tied two of them with their own handcuffs.
The suspect then instructed one of the security guards to lead him to the clinic premises, where two female nurses were on duty.
He proceeded to rob the nurses of their cellphones and then took them at gunpoint to nearby bushes, where he sexually assaulted them before fleeing the scene.
The traumatised nurses managed to make their way back to Chuene clinic and were then transferred to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The Police were called to the scene and have opened cases of business robbery, kidnapping, and two counts of rape.
Lt Gen Hadebe has assembled a multi-disciplinary team to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice.
She has urged community members to come forward with any information that could assist in locating the suspect.
