In a dramatic escalation of rhetoric, President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, declaring on Truth Social on Tuesday that the fate of ‘a whole civilisation’ hangs in the balance unless an agreement can be struck by the 8 p.m. ET deadline.
The conflict revolves around the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, an essential artery for global oil trade.
Iranians have responded by severing all diplomatic ties and rejecting any ceasefire conditions while threatening to disrupt oil supplies in the region.
Military tension has escalated with Israel targeting Iranian infrastructure, coupled with U.S. strikes on major oil export facilities.
As the hour approaches, many are left pondering: will diplomacy prevail, or are we on the brink of something far more dangerous?
In a show of military might, Israel has targeted Iranian railway infrastructure in cities such as Tabriz, Kashan, and Karaj. Concurrently, the United States has struck the Kharg Island oil export facility. Vice President JD Vance stated that U.S. military objectives have been achieved, with the outcome now dependent on Iran’s response.
Amid these threats, Iranian civilians have mobilized, forming human chains and shields at key locations including the White Bridge in Ahvaz, the old bridge in Dezful, and the Kazeroun power plant.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for public participation in these defensive actions, promoting the “Jan Fada” volunteer campaign, which has reportedly seen over 14 million Iranians express their readiness to defend the nation.
The mobilizations come as U.S. strikes continue to target military facilities on Kharg Island and Israeli attacks focus on critical infrastructure in Tehran, Karaj, Qom, and Kashan, intensifying the already precarious situation in the region.
