In a significant drug bust in Limpopo over the weekend, police arrested four suspects, including foreign nationals, and seized drugs valued at over R270,000.
The suspects are expected to appear in various courts on Monday.
On June 6, 2025, at around 4 PM, a joint operation by Lephalale Detectives, Visible Policing, the K9 Unit, and the Tracing Team led to the arrest of a 47-year-old foreign national in Lephalale for possessing drugs estimated to be worth R70,000.
Limpopo Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that during a search of the suspect’s home, police found Cat and crystal meth. The suspect is set to appear in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on June 9, 2025.
In a separate incident on June 7, 2025, the Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad arrested another 47-year-old male foreign national in Mokopane for drug dealing.
Officers, acting on intelligence about suspected drug activities, discovered the suspect with crystal meth valued at approximately R100,000.
He was arrested at the scene and found to lack valid documentation to be in South Africa, leading to additional charges under the Immigration Act.
He will appear in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on June 9, 2025.
Colonel Ledwaba also reported that on June 6, 2025, SAPS Mahwelereng Detectives and the K9 Unit conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting three suspects.
In Mosesetjane Village, a 21-year-old male was arrested with 155 sachets of Nyaope, 57 sachets of Cat, 31 sachets of crystal meth, and cash.
A second suspect, a 26-year-old male, was apprehended in Danisani Sandsloot Village with 46 sachets of crystal meth and 13 sachets of Nyaope.
The final arrest took place in Masodi Village, where a 39-year-old female was found with five sachets of Nyaope, two sachets of crystal meth, and cash.
All three suspects face charges under the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, with the combined street value of the drugs estimated at R10,000.
They are expected in the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on June 9, 2025.
The SAPS continues to urge the community to report any suspicious activities to aid in the fight against drug-related crimes
