The dawn of a new day in Botlokwa was overshadowed by the heinous crime that took place on Tuesday night.
A 31-year-old man, accused of stoning an unknown man to death, is expected to appear in Morebeng Magistrate’s Court today.
According to the Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the arrest was made after the suspect unleashed his fury on an unknown man at his parental home in Ga-Makgato, Letjatjana Village.
It is alleged that the suspect became agitated when he found the victim, and without hesitation, began attacking him with stones.
Frantic calls to the police and emergency medical services were made, but it was too late.
The victim, who remains unidentified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the suspect was apprehended at his home.
Colonel Ledwaba revealed that initial investigations point to the suspect accusing the victim of having an affair with his mother.
However, the suspect’s mother refuted these claims, stating that the victim was a regular customer who would purchase cow bones from her.
She described the victim as a man in his forties, dressed in white work suits.
The news of this gruesome crime has left the Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, in a state of shock and disbelief.
She strongly condemned the act, stating that such brutality will not be tolerated.
As the police continue their investigation into this tragic event, the community of Botlokwa is left reeling in shock and horror.
