A 34-year-old man, allegedly involved in cases of crimen injuria and assault during a political campaign in April at Ga-Seleka village in Witpoort outside Lephalale, will be appearing before Phalala Magistrate’s Court today.
The Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, confirmed the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after reportedly disrupting members of a political party during door-to-door campaign and fleeing the scene.
The suspect is said to have insulted the party members with offensive language before throwing stones at them, resulting in injury to one individual.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest and emphasised such actions will not be tolerated during the voting process in the province.
