Marital Issues turn deadly: Husband and accomplices get life for murder of wife and business partner

In a landmark ruling, the Limpopo High Court has sentenced four men, including the husband of one of the victims, to life imprisonment for the gruesome murder of two Johannesburg businesswomen.

The victims, Makoena Mabusela Leshabane and Tebogo Mphuthi, were brutally killed in a hail of bullets while searching for business premises in Polokwane on October 10, 2020.

Thabo Leshabane, Ndondo Buthelezi, Thembelani Dhlamini, and Sfiso Phiyose each received two life sentences for their roles in the heinous crime.
Buthelezi also received an additional three-year sentence for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The motive behind the killing was revealed to be marital issues, with Leshabane arranging a hit on his wife after she expressed her desire to end their marriage.
The court rejected Leshabane’s claim of a healthy marriage, deeming it untrue.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the detectives team for their meticulous investigation skills, ensuring that justice was served and the perpetrators were brought to book.

This ruling brings closure to the families of the victims and serves as a testament to the commitment of the justice system to protecting the rights of citizens and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their crimes.
