Former President Thabo Mbeki urged Soweto residents to vote for the African National Congress (ANC) during his Jabulani Mall election campaign, emphasising their long-standing connection to the party.
As part of his ANC campaign, the former president accompanied by Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi, took a leisurely stroll through the bustling Jabulani Mall in Soweto on Thursday afternoon.
He mingled with shoppers, many proudly sporting party T-shirts, before taking the stage at the back of a truck at the parking lot to address the eager crowd.
Mbeki urged the people of Soweto to vote for the ANC, the party you know – not others.
With passion in his voice, he declared, “You know what to do. The ANC is the people’s party, I implore you to vote for it.”
Promising solutions to the challenges they are facing, Mbeki’s words resonated with the enthusiastic audience, who cheered and in support.
With determination in his heart, he urged, “Let us unite and vote for the ANC.
