MK Party condemns Minister Mchunu for classifying IPID report on Phala Phala scandal as ‘top secret'”

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) has expressed outrage over Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s decision to classify the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) report on the Phala Phala scandal as “top secret.”

According to MKP National Spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, this move is nothing more than desperate attempt to protect  President Cyril Ramaphosa from accountability.

Ndhlela stated that Minister Mchunu’s actions confirm what many already suspect—that the so-called “New Dawn” is built on deception, corruption, and state capture at the highest level.

The heart of the cover-up, as alleged by Ndhlela, is abuse of police resources under direct instructions from President Ramaphosa, who allegedly deployed General Wally Rhoode to orchestrate an illicit operation following the Phala Phala burglary.

The MK Party accuses ANC government of widespread corruption in law enforcement, as revealed by Arthur Fraser report.

The report highlighted irregularities such as the illegal use of state security and police resources for personal matters of the President, suppression of official crime reports to protect those in power, and obstruction of proper investigative procedures by the executive.

Ndhela called for immediate structural reforms to ensure IPID genuine oversight and demanded declassification of the report for public scrutiny.

The MK Party also called for a full judicial inquiry into Ramaphosa alleged abuse of power and General Rhoode’s involvement in the Phala Phala saga.

The Party further demanded  immediate removal of Minister Mchunu for obstructing justice and criminal charges against those involved in the illegal use of state resources.

The MK Party vows to continue fighting for accountability and transparency in South Africa’s governance.
