South Africa rejects “white genocide” claims, vows crime crackdown

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu firmly dismissed allegations of “white genocide” in South Africa, calling the claims “totally unfounded” while reaffirming government commitment to tackling crime nationwide.

Addressing recent rhetoric about racial violence, Mchunu stressed respect for the U.S. and President Donald Trump but rejected what he termed  “genocide story” as baseless.

“Crime cuts across all divides,” Mchunu stated, acknowledging high crime rates but emphasising intensified efforts to combat criminal activity.

He revealed progress in farm attack investigations, noting arrests and thorough probes to ensure justice. “We prioritise all crimes equally,” he assured, adding that South African Police Service (SAPS) would continue its rigorous approach.

The minister also challenged racial narratives around farm murders, citing 2024/5 crime statistics.

Of six farm-related killings in the fourth quarter, only one victim was white—a farm dweller.

The others included two African farm owners, two African employees, and an African manager.

“These stats show progress,” Mchunu said, urging SAPS to “fight harder” for safer communities.

While refusing to categorise victims by race, Mchunu said addressing the “genocide” narrative required clarifying the data.

“We respect America’s leadership but not this fiction,” he concluded, vowing to “win” the broader battle against crime.
