Thabazimbi grave yard rapist gets 10 years in prison

In a disturbing turn of events that left the Thabazimbi community in disbelief, 27-year-old David Tshepo Ndlovu was handed a ten-year prison sentence after being convicted of the brutal assault and rape of an 18-year-old girl in a graveyard.

The chilling incident unfolded in the early hours of May 1, 2022, when Ndlovu confronted the victim as she returned home from a nearby tavern.

With a knife in hand, he coerced her into the graveyard, where he subjected her to a violent attack.

Displaying remarkable courage, the young woman reported the horrific crime to the authorities, prompting a detailed investigation led by Detective Sergeant Modubi from the Thabazimbi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

Ndlovu’s arrest soon followed, culminating in a guilty verdict delivered by the Thabazimbi Regional Court.

On December 10, 2024, he was sentenced to a decade in prison and deemed unfit to own a firearm.

Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the conviction, stating it sends a stern message to potential offenders.

“Justice has been served for the victim, and we commend the thorough investigation undertaken by all involved,” remarked Lt Gen Hadebe.

The unsettling case of the Thabazimbi graveyard rapist serves as a powerful reminder that such despicable acts will face zero tolerance within the community.
