U.S. destroys Iranian nuclear sites after ‘failed talks’

In his first interview with Fox Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo, “since the U.S. military operation against Iran, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated America is not at war with Iran but acted decisively after diplomatic efforts collapsed.

In a statement. Rubio revealed U.S. President Donald Trump sent Iran leadership a letter 67 days ago demanding an end to nuclear weapons development and seeking peaceful negotiations.

Instead, Iran attempted to stall and deceive U.S. officials—a tactic used for decades—prompting last night (Saturday) precision strikes on three nuclear facilities.

The operation, executed without a single shot fired at U.S. forces, severely degraded Iran nuclear capabilities.

Rubio warned retaliation would be catastrophic for Tehran, emphasising U.S. forces exited Iranian airspace before the regime realized it had been hit.

He stressed the strikes targeted only nuclear infrastructure, not civilians, and reiterated America’s openness to peaceful talks if Iran abandons weapons ambitions.

Privately, Rubio added, global allies support the action despite public criticism.

Iran now faces critical choice, pursue a civilian nuclear program like other nations or risk further consequences by rebuilding weapons sites.

Rubio highlighted Iran stockpile of 60% enriched uranium—far beyond civilian needs—and its capacity to produce nuclear warheads within days.

The regime’s history of sponsoring terrorism and destabilising the Middle East, he argued, made last night intervention necessary for global security.

When asked about European allies, Rubio urged France, Germany, and Britain to enforce existing sanctions against Iran by October.

He also cautioned Iranian proxies like Hezbollah that attacks on U.S. interests would be attributed directly to Tehran.

The secretary closed by noting China reliance on Strait of Hormuz oil shipments, implying Beijing should deter Iranian escalation.

The U.S. remains prepared for diplomacy or further action, depending on Iran next move.
