The United Democratic Movement (UDM), President Bantu Holomisa, expressed his optimism that the time has come for South Africa to break free from the ANC’s one-party dominance and the corruption that has been tolerated for the past three decades.
During the UDM Manifesto launch for the 2024 National and Provincial Elections at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Holomisa emphasised the significance of these upcoming elections in the country’s history.
He believes that this will be the moment when South Africa can finally rid itself of the ANC’s monopoly and the pervasive corruption that has plagued the nation.
Holomisa also highlighted the importance of restoring the people’s position at the forefront of the national agenda.
The UDM leadership is dedicated to upholding principles of decency, integrity, and respect for citizens and democratic institutions.
However, Holomisa acknowledged that South Africa is currently facing a crisis, with a growing disconnect between the government and its people.
He attributed this divide to various factors, including rampant corruption, a struggling economy with high unemployment rates, escalating crime and lawlessness, deteriorating infrastructure, frequent power outages, and the influx of people from all-over seeking refuge and resources from the state.
Holomisa lamented that despite these challenges, the government often fails to listen to the concerns of its citizens, leading to public protests and unrest.
