Limpopo police arrested a 34-year-old man linked to the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend in Shawela Village, Giyani, on Sunday.
Officers tracked the suspect to a hideout in Nsavulani village—a neighbouring area within Shawela—and apprehended him at 8:00 AM Monday during a coordinated operation.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba confirmed the arrest followed an urgent directive from Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, , to deploy all available resources.
Investigators credited community tip-offs for narrowing the manhunt, with residents providing critical leads within hours of the crime.
Hadebe praised the joint effort, calling it proof that “collaboration between law enforcement and citizens dismantles violence.”
The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled for appear at Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for a murder charge.
