BMW unveils ALPINA special edition to celebrate 50th anniversary of SA carmaker plant

In 2023, BMW Group South Africa celebrated its 50th anniversary as the first carmakers plant established outside of Germany.

To mark this milestone, the company announced a R4.2 billion investment in its Rosslyn plant to produce the next-generation BMW X3 plug-in hybrid starting in late 2024.

As part of the celebration, five special ALPINA B3 AWD units were built to commemorate the occasion, featuring the company’s anniversary logo and only available in South Africa.

These limited-edition cars include unique exterior details and special interior touches, such as full leather Merino Black seats with the anniversary logo embroidered on the headrests.

The ALPINA B3 AWD is equipped with a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder inline engine and features ALPINA-specific turbochargers, producing 364kW and 730Nm of torque.

It also includes a high-performance sport chassis, exhaust system, and brake system, as well as four driving modes and variable sports steering.

All five units of the limited-edition BMW ALPINA B3 50 Years of BMW South Africa have been sold and will be delivered to their owners in December 2023 at a price of R 2 960 341.20, including Motorplan, VAT, and CO2 tax.
