BMW unveils new M5: A powerhouse with a purpose

As BMW continues to push the boundaries of performance and luxury, the new BMW M5 is set to make its world premiere at the esteemed Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in July 2024.

Boasting an imposing power delivery and emotionally engaging performance experience, the M5 takes high-performance car design to new heights.

The M5 features prominent wheel arch and side skirt extensions, a sculptural front apron, and model-specific surfacing around the C-pillar, including an embossed “M5” logo for the Hofmeister kink.

These design elements give the car an athletic appearance that sets it apart from the BMW 5 Series Sedan, while the abundance of body-colored surfaces creates a sleek and puristic look.

Under the hood, the M5 is equipped with a groundbreaking M HYBRID drive system that combines a 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.

This system delivers a maximum output of 430 kW and a peak torque of 750 Nm, with the electric motor adding an extra kick of power when needed.

The M HYBRID drive system allows the M5 to reach speeds of up to 140 km/h in all-electric mode, with an electric range of 67-69 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.

The M5 also features an advanced all-wheel-drive system, M xDrive, which can be switched to 2WD mode for a pure driving experience.

In terms of handling, the M5 is equipped with a sophisticated chassis design, adaptive M suspension, and integral Active Steering, allowing for agile and precise driving characteristics.

A variety of driving modes, including M Dynamic Mode and M Mode, can be selected to tailor the driving experience to individual preferences.

Inside the cabin, the M5 features a progressive sports car cockpit with a flat-bottomed M leather steering wheel, M multifunction seats, and the BMW Curved Display with M-specific content.

Standard features include Merino leather trim, four-zone air conditioning, ambient lighting, and the Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System.

For those looking to personalize their M5, BMW will offer a range of M Performance Parts, including forged light-alloy wheels and carbon-fiber exterior components.
