DA vows to protect Tshwane residents amidst coalition chaos

The City of Tshwane is in the midst of political chaos as the recent withdrawal of ActionSA from the multi-party coalition has thrown its future into uncertainty.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has vowed to stand by Tshwane residents despite growing instability.
DA Tshwane Spokesperson, Kwena Moloto attributed ActionSA departure to their poor performance in the 2024 general election.
Moloto expressed concerns that ActionSA’s realignment with a faction of the ANC opposed to the Government of National Unity (GNU) along with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has further destabilised the already fragile coalition in Tshwane.
He revealed that the ANC faction, led by Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi, has been working to divide coalition partners in Tshwane.
Despite the DA’s efforts to seek stability pact with the ANC, all attempts to reach a settlement failed, with the ANC now teaming up with the EFF and ActionSA to oust Mayor Cilliers Brink from office.
Moloto warned this power play could potentially put the Lesufi-EFF faction in control of the Tshwane Metro, risking return to financial mismanagement and administration turmoil experienced in the past.
However, the DA remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting Tshwane residents from any potential abuses by the new ruling faction.
Moloto emphasised DA will continue to fight for the interests of Tshwane residents and will not hesitate to take legal action if necessary to prevent the city from being destroyed from within.
As the political landscape in Tshwane continues to shift, Moloto assured that the DA stands firm in its resolve to safeguard the city and ensure that it remains a beacon of progress and development for all its residents.
