In a sudden move, the City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Dada Morero has relieved Kabelo Gwamanda of his duties as Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development, effective immediately.
Chris Vondo, the Mayor’s spokesperson, announced the decision, citing the need to maintain consistent service delivery and meet residents’ needs.
In a statement on Saturday, Vondo clarified that Gwamanda’s dismissal was necessary to ensure the City’s services remain top-notch.
This development comes hot on the heels of Gwamanda’s tumultuous tenure, marked by allegations of fraud and controversy surrounding a funeral policy scam.
To fill the void, Morero has appointed Tebogo Nkonkou as the new MMC for Community Development, also with immediate effect.
Expressing confidence in Nkonkou’s abilities, Morero believes the new appointee will enhance residents’ quality of life through commitment and dedication.
